Delbarton won’t appeal $170K verdict in ex-track coach’s lawsuit
MORRISTOWN — Delbarton School will not appeal the nearly $171,000 judgment won by a former track coach who accused the private school and the school’s former headmaster of sabotaging his efforts to get a teaching job after he was dismissed from the school.
Marc MacNaughton, who also worked at the elite boys’ school as a teacher, won the judgment against Delbarton and former headmaster, the Rev. Luke Travers, in October after an eight-person civil jury found the school and Travers breached a 2005 separation agreement.
MacNaughton has said Travers retaliated against him because he reported the headmaster for making two students uncomfortable when he excessively hugged them and patted them on their buttocks.
